Description
St. Joseph’s Hemodialysis Dialysis clinic receives 900 dialysis patients who spend a fair amount of time at the renal clinic with each lasting up to four hours per visit, 150 times per year. St. Joseph’s Health Centre determined the need for improving the comfort, care and experience of their patients. The decision was made to have a complete renovation and expansion of over 11,000 square feet in order to create a bright, spacious and modern environment for their patients and their family members. This expansion included five private treatment rooms, an isolation room as well as rooms for private consultations and examination. Space was also created for discussion and education sessions for the patients and families with care teams which all leads to better patient care.
This project included a complete replacement of the existing Reverse Osmosis water system and installation of a fully redundant RO water system. It also incorporated patient lift systems, structural steel work, asbestos abatement, exterior cladding, exterior and interior concrete slabs, millwork and many other systems providing the St. Joseph’s Hemodialysis Department with the fullest ability to help their patients. This renovation and expansion was carried out over two phases in order to accommodate full operation of this important clinic as well as the rest of the hospital.
